6.1 Continuous Learning
Candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. (PSC 6.1/ISTE 6a, 6b)
Artifact: Freckle Training PowerPoint
Reflection:
This artifact contains the actual presentation from an online Professional Development (PD) that I attended, virtually. The purpose of PD was to teach me about an online digital platform that Cobb County had just purchased called Freckle. In training, I learned how to use the teacher dashboard and learned how to share assignments with my students. I also learned how to differentiate instruction for reading and math. In the end, I explored the student dashboard and learned how students access their assignments.
This artifact contains the actual Standard 6.1 states, “Candidates demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice.” I demonstrated growth in knowledge of emerging technologies by attending this training virtually and participating in the activities from the training. This professional practice allowed me to apply what I learned the very next day by planning multiple online lessons that my students will be able to utilize next week during distance learning.
learned a lot form this PD. Not only did I learn how to use a fantastic program that will keep my students engaged in their learning, but I also learned that you do not always have to meet face-to-face to train someone, you can train someone virtually. If I had to change something about the process of the artifact, I would have taken screenshots of my colleagues exploring Freckle and me. If there were time, I would also create a student survey, and get their feedback on the program.
This artifact impacted faculty development and student learning. Since all grade levels had to be trained on using Freckle, the school's professional learning was improved. Student learning will improve through differentiated lessons and activities presented in Freckle. The impact can be assessed through lesson plans and student achievement.
