I decided to get my Specialist degree in Instructional Technology because I wanted to improve my teaching practices. Before this course, I did not know how to design or support technology-rich environments, but all of that has changed. I am now aware of online projects, online publishing, and many productivity tools to use to support learning for all students. I will also use these resources to develop and implement engaging lessons that will foster higher-order thinking skills, creativity, and problem-solving. Furthermore, this course has taught me how to differentiate lessons to support the needs of Special Education Students and English Language Learners.
This course has helped me with my professional growth and development by giving me the chance to learn about current and emerging technology tools. I was able to use the skills that I acquired in this course to support my peers through a coaching experience, which geared them into designing and developing a lesson that supported higher-order thinking, student engagement, and deep understanding. Although I wished I could have explored how technology could support other content areas like math, science, and language arts, I am more than comfortable with becoming a technology coach and supporting the teachers into developing 21st-century learners.
